stamina folding stepper

I like this product but it is of a cheaper form. When I got it and opened the box, the wheel on it fell out in 6 pieces and one of the bases was bent and very hard to get the cap on it. But it works good.

Easy stamina

Product is good. Great price and very convenient. Doesn'T fit under my bed like I had hoped for, but easy enough to store in closet when not in use. I get a good workout from it

Well satisfied

This stepper is well worth the money, and after shopping locally, I find this item to be very well made and sturdy. I don't find it to be as compact when folded as I had hoped, but realize that to make it more compact would require sacrificing some of the sturdiness so we leave it up most of the time. And of course leaving it up is a constant reminder to use it, which after all, is the reason for having it. I would definitely recommend this stepper to anyone.

No instructions!

The product arrived well-packed, but minus any assembly or use instructions. While there was fairly minimal assembly required, I would like to know how to use the monitor. The price is very good, and the stepper seems solid and what I wanted. However, instructions would be nice!

Works well

I've now used the mini-stepper for a handful of times and so far it performs as I expected it to. It's great for a good, quick workout in front of the TV. My only complaint is that the pedals do touch down to the base once the stepper is warmed up (consequently creating a small stepping noise), but it doesn't impact the functionality of the unit. The first time I used it, it took a little while to get used to balancing on the unit, but it was easy enough. I've used the pull straps occasionally for an extra workout and so far they work fine.

Don't waste your money

I was hopeful this would be a good device to replace a stepper I previously owned that broke.
This stepper appears to be well made and sturdy. The exercise bands it comes with would be useful as bands.
BUT the negatives overwhelm those couple of positives.
You cannot set the tension on this. The angle at which your foot is pointed at the highest step seemed to be higher than 45 degrees. This leads to either pain in the toes that are pushed against the front of the step or to a very awkward stance as I tried to keep my feet back so my toes wouldn't get squished. Of course, my feet slid down anyway, due to the angle. As some other reviewers have said (I should have listened to them), it is very difficult to keep balanced on the stepper because of the steep angle, so forget about trying to use the bands to make the workout harder. It's all I could do to stay on it (and I exercise nearly daily and have for the last 5 years). You can't step all the way to the bottom with one foot because then your other foot is up at that high angle, so you have to try to keep your steps in the middle, which is OK when concentrating. But try to read while doing it and forget it. Again, you lose your balance.
As a result of all these negatives, I pulled a sciatic muscle and still have back pain three days later.
I would send it back but it's so heavy the shipping would cost a lot so I donated it to a Tricky Tray instead. A hefty donation. And I still have to try to find something that works.

Excellent work out excellent value!

This stepper is awesome. It has been my first purchase of equipment of this kind. It does take a coordinated person to use this. I have worked out with it every day since I have had it. It is light weight, durable. I am able to watch TV and work out. Its the best purchase I have done thus far.

Awesome little product

First of all, I don't know what one of the previous reviewers was talking about when she said the chain kept breaking - this product does not have a chain on it at all. There is a thick cable that goes around the pulley, but no chains. The cable looks solid and I have had no problem with it or any other part on my stepper.

Mine also does not squeak at all.

I used to do my own little workout program with a treadmill, stretching, and some other cardio work. But unfortunately I've been having a lot of problems with my knees and decided I needed an alternative to the treadmill (since the impact is terrible for joints), and I settled on this stepper. A CD is included with a 30-minute routine, half of which involves the stepper and the cords, and half of which only uses the cords for a full body workout. I feel great at the end of each use; better than I had when using the treadmill, and with no impact on my poor knees.

This product only has 2 or 3 simple steps for putting it together, and if you pop in the CD you'll be using it like a pro in no time. There is a 250 lb limit, and the steps are made of plastic with a metal frame behind them, but I don't see it being a problem if used properly and not stomped on. The little timer/counter came with a AAA battery and turns on automatically when you step on the machine and turns off after 4 minutes of no use. It tells you how many steps were taken, how many calories were burned, and how long you've been working out.

This is an awesome product for the price, and for anyone who wants a good cardio workout without harming their knees or using a ton of different equipment (or simply saving money by not having to join a gym).

Inexpensive exercise stepper

This stepper is no frills but is inexpensive. It is compact and easy to assemble and use. The user needs to put it next to something which they can hold onto. Many people would find it difficult to use without holding on to something for balance. The biggest fault with it is that there is no way to adjust the tension or amount of force it takes to use it. It starts out pretty stiff and over time, requires less pressure to push down the petals. This is the second one I have had. I wore the first one out. For a compact inexpensive unit, I still think it is a good buy.

great idea poor design

First hat's off to amazon for great customer service. we first purchased this product in summer 09 i used it sparingly but then my son started to use it. He used it almost everyday for about 20- 40 minutes each session. after a few months it started to have a loud "rubbing" sound which we couldn't fix. then the right piston failed. i called the company and they said it was past warranty. i called amazon and they were great said they would ship me out a new one asap. we recv'd the new one in a couple days and shipped back the defective one. my son started using it and within 2 weeks the machine created a foul smell when used. then a couple weeks later it started leaking oil from the piston.

this machine is only suited for VERY light use. the concept is great and when it works it's a great machine. I wished the manufacturer spent a little more money for better pistons it would be a winner then . but 2 failures for 2 machines is unacceptable

I would NOT recommend this product

Broken after 1 month!

A sheared shaft or broken cam I suppose. I heard a pop, and now the peddles don't rise and fall as they should during use. Prior to breaking, it has been quite noisy as well.

Get off your butt and feel the burn ... on your knees

I've just burned 62 calories in 7 minutes, if the counter is working right. My heart rate is mildly elevated and I'm not breathing hard, but if I kept on striding, this could turn into a nice aerobic workout. I bought this stepper to get some exercise while watching exciting online training courses for work ("Increase Office Productivity by Staying Later") and episodes of "Glee" on my computer.

Here are my initial reactions, considering I've had this for about three days. The set-up was OK; I was able to figure it out. When I first went on the stepper, I had the hardest time trying to make the step go all the way down. Either a sedentary lifestyle had turned my leg muscles into jelly or my smaller body frame was the reason (slightly flabby, but not enough weight to push it down). I was able to get moving by taking half steps; and I go faster if my feet are closer to the outside. The counter appears to get it right whether I push all the way down or just halfway.

I also chose this stepper because I wanted something portable that offered exercise in short, guilt-induced spurts. After I eat fatty foods, the guilt hits, and I am suddenly very motivated to move. This can-do attitude lasts for a whole five to ten minutes. Getting on a big treadmill or a hulking elliptical machine seems to demand a half-hour or more, and I can't handle that kind of commitment. The stepper absolves my guilt in a less all-out fashion.

Today, for example, I started off loving myself with a bowl of All-Bran. Then it all went to hell when I moved on to batter-fried fish, fried chicken, two slices of fudge cake and an Oreo McFlurry. After downing the cake, I used the stepper for about 5 minutes and felt a little better. That gives me a total of 12 minutes on the machine today. And from what I've read, the minutes of exercise you get here and there do add up for overall health.

Other things to note...
- A sense of balance is needed to stand on the stepper.

- Once I got on, I was higher than I thought I would be.

-With each step, I feel pressure on my knees, so if you have bad knees, this might not be the machine for you. Heck, in the long term, this might not be the machine for me and my knees!

-Other reviews have mentioned that the stepper was noisy, but mine is quiet, so far.

-I'm not sure which leg muscles are being worked out. Doesn't feel like the core or butt muscles either.

Guess I'll see after a month. If I can keep it up. (The elliptical has laundry hanging on it.)

Customer Review :

Not a good experience.

I had the stepper for a week, and had used it for a total of 2 hours, when the pedal height and resistance failed. Turns out the pulley wheel had split down the middle like a hamburger bun. IMEX is sending a replacement part, free of charge. I'll see if the problem recurs and report back. I hope it was just a weak part, because while the stepper worked, it was awesome. UPDATE: the replacement pulley wheel cracked after roughly 1 hour of cumulative use. I am sending this machine back. Too bad.

Just the right size

Being that I sit at a desk most of the day I decided I needed to get a stepper. However, I did not want my house to look like a gym so when I saw this one, I thought this is just the right size. It does keep count really well & I like the fact that I can move it out of the way or easily move it from room to room. I deducted "one star" because it was a little aggravating putting together due to the fact that some of the bolts would not tighten without a lot of patience. Plus, it is a little noisy but all in all it's well worth the cost. It is designed more for females - hence the name "Hers MS 93 Stepper.

Great value, except...

It was easy to setup, and I it works smoothly.
I don't think I will be using the monitoring part, it doesn't seem to reset, and doesn't seem accurate.
The upper part is slightly skewed, which is the only thing bothering me, but I can live with that.

Reserving Judgement as well

Up until today I was totally lovin' this stepper. I run in the summer but when the snow flies I hybernate indoors and was looking for a way to stay in shape over the winter. Well, today I was 40 minutes into my workout and the steps would only come about 3 inches off the ground. I turned it over and the pulley was split...just like the hamburger mentioned in the earlier post. I have not contacted the company but I bought this stepper on 12/20/09, not even two months ago, and have used it maybe 20-30 times but recently did a couple of workouts in excess of 30 minutes. Maybe it was too much for it to handle. Hopefully the replacement process will be hastle free and come quickly...I did find that the opposite side of the pulley was not split so I spun it around...after taking it apart to get the cable unstuck and reassembled it with the unsplit side outward so the cable would not bury itself in between causing the steps to fail. It worked - so I can still use it while the part ships.

Great item

So far so good on this. I purchased this some months ago and it is still very firm and not loose where you feel you are getting a good work out. I cant see using this alone without incorporating other excercise but it will do the job when combining it or using it on a more relaxed excercise day.

Although the resistance is firm I didnt see much difference when tightening it and wish their was a little more range on it.

Very disappointed !

Like the other reviewer I was very happy with the stepper and I used it almost everyday. But only about one month later the wire cable broke, so I called the customer service and they replaced me with another cable. I thought this one would last, but it only last for 3 times exercise and borke AGAIN! I am very disappointed and hoping I can return this product.

Great for reducing inches in your butt and thighs!

I love this little piece of equipment! It's small, quiet and easy to use. Just put on some music and you're good to go!
Pro: It came nearly fully assembled. All I had to do was attach a cable around a wheel and screw in the workout bands to the front.
Con: Like the previous reviewer, I too had trouble screwing in one of the bands. It went in crooked and I needed pliers to turn in to get it all the way in.
Pro: In the beginning, I could only do a few minutes. 3 weeks later I'm doing 35 minutes and about 1200-1500 steps. The resistance is stronger when you first start up. As you keep going, the hydraulic thingies get warmed up and are less resistant, but that's when you can really go faster and get your heart rate up.
Con: I ended up taking off the workout bands because using them threw off my balance and my rhythm. I use hand weights instead. I also do my workout near a door where I can hold on if I need to. There is another model that has a handle. I would recommend that one for people who are afraid of losing their balance.
Pro: My pants fit better now because my thighs and butt have gotten noticably smaller! It really works!

UPDATE: January 26, 2010. I am still using my stepper. I have lost 15 pounds since September '09!
This is the only piece of exercise equipment I have ever stuck with. I did take a few minutes one day to tighten all the nuts and bolts. After that, the counter stopped working. I must have affected the sensor somehow, but that's ok because I just go by minutes now. 35-40 minutes a day plus light weights have done the trick for me. I play Lady Gaga's CD while I work out. Most of the songs have a perfect beat for stepping.

Rating :

bad experience

I used this stepper almost daily for a month and was happy with the product until a couple of days ago when the cable broke with no warning. I was stepping at a fairly fast pace, and when the cable broke the machine came to a dead stop causing me to lose my balance and fall off, sustaining injuries. When I was deciding which stepper to purchase and had narrowed my choices down to two, I chose this one because there was a comment on the other about the cable breaking. There are no specifications in the product description about weight limit (but my weight shouldn't be a problem) or how vigorous a workout the machine will tolerate (isn't that the point of aerobic exercise?). I'm returning this stepper (a fairly painless process, thank you, Amazon) and will order a different one.

Questions & Answers
Question : Should I use the eliptical machine & step machine alternately when I don't use the treadmill to lose fat in...
the lower body? I usually use the treadmill before I do weight training, but I was wondering if the elliptical or step machine would be ok too or should I just stick to the treadmill?

Answer:
Always remove cardio from whenever you do weights. The two don't mix. So have them done with at least a 6 hour break between the occasions. If you don't have the time to do just that then try and do the weights before you do the cardio since you will need all the energy that you can get ahold of to have any real results from doing weights. Stick to treadmill or start the bike or the recumbent one or something. Anything that will have a caloric burn meter or something that tells you how many calories that you are using up will give you a result that you can go with. Just make sure that you are keeping the calories going in the right direction when you are switching machines. If you can't make sure then you will just have to go for another machine for your cardio. Anyways the treadmill is the best from those machines that you are suggesting so if you were too stick with it then you are doing better just if you need some variation to the workout then you should just be careful with the amount of calories that you are burning from your sessions just to make sure that you aren't reducing the results that you are getting from your workouts.

Question : step by step, how do you use the MetroCard dispensing machines in new york for the subway?
i will be using a debut card.

Answer:
All you need to do is press start, pick your language, select what type of card you want, and then the payment method, pay it and you got a card. Subway stations will have metrocard machines that only take debit/credit cards, but all machines accept debit/credit cards. If you can't figure out how to use a metrocard machine, I feel bad for you.

Question : We make machines to replace humans to work, what if we take it one step forward?
Machines are replacing more and more humans because they work more efficiently. But what if engineers and scientists wake up one day with a machine that thinks better, faster, multitasks and finds solutions to more problems then any group or team of smart people? What if you wake up with a machine that says 'I can think for you and do it better, so what is your purpose here now?' What do you think? Will machines replace humans? What will happen to us? How will we live?

Answer:
I just saw a news program last week that showed us that Japan already has computerized robots that look exactly like humans that are teaching in classroom situations and are assimilated into the general population without anyone knowing they are robots...they are programed to "eat" as vegetarians, and this is the "fuel" that propels them rather than electricity (like a hybrid engine), so it's more than possible...the moral of this, if you ask me, is never trust a vegetarian! I think this is way too far, not to mention fraud and theft since our the vast percentage of property tax dollars in the USA go to pay school costs and teachers salaries...if the teachers aren't human, I demand that portion of my tax dollars to come back to me since I'm not getting what I'm paying for!

Question : I have a precore step machine, can I use vasoline to lubricate the shock absorbers or must I use grease?
I have a precore 730e step machine. I need to lubricate the shock absorber mechanism, instruction booklet says use grease- can I use vasoline?

Answer:
Vasoline is not grease. When it warms up it will thin out and not do what you're wanting it to do. Just buy real grease. It's pretty cheap.

Question : How are PLASTIC CUTLERY made? What machines/processes are needed?
How can you make plastic cutlery (disposable)? What are the step by step processes and machines needed for the processes? Are there any suppliers of these machines?Thank you.

Answer:
The injection moulding machines are commonplace. They are not cheap! The tooling is the injection moulds that are fitted to the machines. To make items such as plastic cutlery feasible, they have to be produced in large quantities. This means multi- cavity moulds. Maybe 100 pieces will be made every time the machine cycles. This means the moulds will be very large, and also therefore, very expensive. A mould is made of steel, and contains the mould cavities, which are the shape of the cutlery. It also splits open, so is in 2 halves. It has to have the means of removing the finished mouldings, and also has heating and cooling means built into it.First, the mould has to be heated. The plastic is injected into it, then the heat is removed and replaced by refrigerated water. This helps to rapidly solidify the plastic material. The mould then opens, ejects the finished products, and recloses and is again heated for the next "shot".The time it takes to heat and cool means a fairly long time is needed for each shot, thus the multiple cavity mould is necessary. The cycle time required can be divided by the number of components per shot, so the time per component becomes minimal. There are plenty of machine suppliers, but because of the mould size and weight, a machine for the job has to be large, therefore more expensive.Often, the manufacturer will own the moulds, and pass them to a plastics moulding company to mould his parts for him. This way he doesn't need the capital to also own the machines.Moulds are made by specialist toolmakers. There can be a lot of work in producing a mould, and it must work after all that! It needs specialist design.
