Looking for an elliptical? Try this.
This is the exercise device for those who don't want to exercise. We get on it, we "walk" for 20 minutes, and we get off. An elliptical would be nice but are very expensive. Our treadmill wasn't being used at all. The Gazelle Edge gets us moving. We like it.

Love the motion
Love the motion and the way it works, but the scan is cheaply made and doesn't work well. This scan is for distance, calories, etc. It isn't good. Might as well left it off the product. Mine doesn't even work. I do like the exercise tho.

Mr. & Mrs Mullins
It is exactly what we expected, as we have one at our summer home. It works much better for us than a tread mill or any other equipment we have used. Storage is absolutely no problem.

Not good for people already in shape
I bought this product a few months ago and honestly I should have listened to some of the reviews. This does not give you a cardio workout if you are already in shape. It does however, work the leg muscles and keeps them toned. I needed for the winter and I will probally be getting rid of it.
The quaulty is poor as well. The clock that keeps track of distance etc., never worked from day 1. It is also ver noisy now and it has only been about 3 months.
This product is more for people who just need to get moving, not for those who consider themselves inshape. I don't think I have sweated once using it and I rev it up in attempt to make the workout worth it.

Love, love, love my Gazelle! Did I say I love it?
I can tell you I love mine and my comment is legitimate. Now I am just getting into exercise so I am a beginner but it gives me an amazing workout. I am at 254 pounds now and can say that when I started I was at 276. When I first used the machine I could barely last 5 mins, that is how out of shape I was. I can now use my machine for up to an 30 mins but it took me a while to work up to that. I have had my machine for years and stopped using it because I was lazy and stayed fat. I am now starting back to my routine and loving it once again. When I used my machine in the past I had gotten up to being able to workout for an hour and I hope to get back to that again. I don't like to go walk out by myself since I am female and don't feel comfortable on our local trails alone. I would love to have a nice treadmill again but don't have the money for that. So this was my compromise and it works great for me. It gives me a good workout and I do sweat and get my heart rate up. I say if you want something to get started and don't have much money this is the way to go. But that is just my opinion. My feet do tend to move around and can be a little annoying but it is nothing that is so bad that would turn me off of the machine. I have had this machine now for 4 years and the back pad on the foot pedals are long gone but that is just for looks and does not have anything to do with the function. My machine works just as good today as the day that I bought it. I has started to squeak a little when I get to going really fast on it so I know I should I lubricate it but just haven't gotten around to it. I also started working out with some free weights to increase my workouts and have added things like crunches, lunges, leg lifts etc. I have always hated exercise, hence why I am obese, but I am really starting to enjoy exercise again and I really do think the Gazelle has been a part of that. As I said in the beginning I love my Gazelle and would highly recommend one to any beginner or low-level intermediate out there.

Super addition to a standing work station
Wonderful product so far - will see how it wears. I'm fairly confident having assembled it; the parts are heavy and well-connected.
I stand at my desk ten hours a day; should give it a real workout - posted a couple of pix in the customer photo area.

Little Space & Little Time
I purchased this elliptical a few weeks ago as an alternative when I am short on time and can't make it to the gym. Using this elliptical with 3lb dumbbells has provided me just as good a work out as using the elliptical at the gym. I use a heart rate monitor and can easily reach my target zone (and above if I'm not careful).
You do have to get use to the shorter strides and not having something to hold onto, but after a few uses - you won't even notice.
The best thing about it, is I can use it in any room in my home at any time - it's light enough so I can carry it around. It's so quiet - I don't wake anyone when using it in the wee hours of the morning. My downstairs neighbors don't even complain.
It was also very easy to put together, I did it without the assistance of my husband.
A recommended buy if you are short on space but are looking for a good cardio workout.

Expectations Met
I purchased this machine to do cardio at home on those nights when I am too tired to go to the gym. It arrived quickly and took only minutes to assemble. I am in good shape ( 5'3 and 107 lbs...work out several times a week at the gym) and was still able to get a good workout on this machine! It was enjoyable and fun. This machine takes up almost no space at all. I don't have anything negative to say...I like the fact that I had to engage my core muscles to stay on it....I will post again in a few weeks to see if my love affair continues....

Fantastic Purchase
I absolutely LOVE this machine. I was looking for something that wouldn't take up a lot of room in my house and that wouldn't make a lot of noise and this is perfect. It took me less 10 minutes to set up the machine and start using it. I admit I'm close to 200 pounds and have no difficulty keeping my balance while on it. I love the fact that the machine allows you to go forward and backwards and the best thing is that you can control the resistence. A lot of people complain about the short stride but I think it is really easy to get used to. I did have some knee pan the first few uses but after a few weeks of using I have little to no knee pain and have really built up my stamina. Another great feature is the computer on the machine. I exercise in the morning before going to work and get back on later in the evening and it keeps track of what I already accomplished earlier that day and I can reset every night for the next day. I don't feel guilty anymore watching my favorite shows on TV because I just hop on my elliptical trainer and get a fantastic workout for an hour.

BUY THIS! You won't be disapointed.
I live in a large coastal city where every square inch of my living space is premium. Years ago, I purchased the mini-stepper from Sharper Image. I literally was burning through each stepper on average every two to three months. The rod in the middle would snap (poor design). I bought another stepper from Target that had a cable in the middle, that cable broke within a month and a half. Finally I decided to compromise my space and bought a larger elliptical machine. I had it for about six months and the cross bar weld blew out. Here's the thing, I RUN on these and really give the machine a hell of a workout. This machine has stood up to my abuse for 2 months now without a sign of it breaking. I did have to tighten the bolts on the left foot petal about a month after using it. It's small, I can put it under my bed and am thrilled with the design! It's a simple bicycle petal and the foot pad rests on a roller blade wheel. Absolutely genus! I actually get a great cardio from this and work up a good sweat. I saw another reviewer here mentioning something about balance. I'm guessing they've never used any kind of cardio machine before because I didn't have an issue at all. The critique of the elliptical motion not being that big is valid but if you think of this as a stepper, that won't make a difference to you. I think the calorie counter is off. It says that I've burned 820 calories after an hour which I know from other machines and when I belonged to a gym, is not the case. I'm sure I'm getting a good 600 - 650 calorie burn after an hour on this. That's it for my review! Really happy with this! :)

Customer Review :
Recent concern, but still a great bargain.
I noticed some folks here have asked to hear from anyone who has used the Schwinn 430 for an extended period of time. I purchased this product in October 2008, so that's nearly a year and a half of use. I probably spend about a half hour on it six days a week, and I go about 210 lbs. So far no *major* problems. I will say however that there may be something to the squeeky issue that has been raised by some others.
First, I can recall that when I first assembled the unit there was a squeek where the arm-bars pivot on the main mast. (It may help to refer to a photo of the 430 as I try to describe various parts.) It was because I over-tightened the screws. After loosening a half turn, no squeek. So that's really a non-issue.
However, in the last month I've noticed a different problem. I started hearing a squeek, or more accurately a clicking noise in the lower half of the unit, along with a slight wobble, or bumpy feeling to what otherwise has been a very smooth range of motion. In fact, the smooth ride was one of the big improvements I had admired about this unit compared to another low-budget (Precor) unit I used to own.
I noticed that the 430's plastic wheels that run on the track had deposited a graphite-like powder build up, the depth of a few mm at the back of the track. It was easy to clear away and it did run smoother afterward. However, even then I am getting some of that wobble/squeek sensation that will begin to appear about half-way through my workouts.
In trying to decipher why, one thing I have noticed is that the feet plates are fairly wide and that I actually place my feet so they are as narrowly spaced as the plates allow. This means that my weight is not centered directly above the leg-bars that hold the foot-plates. If I space my stance farther apart, more centered directly above the leg bars, or outside them, the noise and slight wobbly effect is lessened. It's a bit awkward, but I have become more used to it with practice.
Still, I cannot find the direct source of the problem and I do worry that it signals a problem that will only worsen. My guess is that the weight distribution is torquing the joints a little bit, probably inside the casing that holds the flywheel. But I'm not going to open the case and poke around. I'm worried, but so far no catastrophes.
All in all, it has been a reliable product and a good value.

great quite machine, perfectly does its job, sold as described
I didn't do much research for buying this machine. I just started looking for an elliptical home exercise machine. And then found out on google that amazon has this machine, and over 400 people have already wrote review. Well, i read the reviews and decided that this is it. I usually take a long time to make a decision in purchasing the big ticket items. But, i decided about this machine within 45 minutes. I truested and liked the other folks who have used it and shared their experiences.
The machine is really quite (except for a few bearable squeaks) and the display is not bad at all. I can see the display without any problem. Usually I have the room light on when working out. Assembly was OK. It took about two hours between me and my wife putting it together. Make sure not to loose any washer, locker, or nuts. Schwinn did not a supply a sigle spare assembly nuts. The only thing that I wished that the machine had was a fan. I can turn the ceiling fan which works fine for me, but there may be other users who may not have the fan facility at the location where they want to put the machine. But, i will still recommend this machine to anyone. There are numerous options available for cooling off. The machine has flexible programming, it's up to individuals to choose whatever fits for them.

Best mid-priced elliptical out there
Our new Schwinn 430 arrived last night. The delivery company called me Tuesday to schedule a day for delivery and told me the driver would call an hour before arriving. We got hit with another snowstorm on the scheduled delivery date and the roads were becoming treacherous throughout the day. I received a call at work around 3:00 in the afternoon to let me know the lift had broken on the truck and the driver was running a little late, but I was assured he would be there between 4:00 and 5:00. The truck arrived at 4:30, despite the broken lift the very friendly driver brought the heavy package into our living room.
It took my husband and I about an hour and a half to assemble the elliptical. We did read the other reviews and bought some lithium grease before delivery. The directions were clear, and assembly was easy and straightforward. We both got on the machine just to try it. The machine was very smooth and very quiet.
I came home after work tonight and did my first workout on it. The machine was as solid and smoothe as the ellipticals at my gym, it kicked my butt. I wasn't expecting that intense of a workout on a home machine.
We researched and tried out many machines before deciding on this make and model. The Schwinn 430 feels solid, is well engineered, and has a small footprint. Awesome machine for the money!

A satisfied customer
I researched ellipticals for quite a while before ordering the Schwinn 430. My friend, Tom, also researched this type of equipment until his eyes fell out of his head. He wound up buying the Sole for about twice the cost of the Schwinn. In any event, he recommended the Schwinn as a good buy for the price. I then read just about all 400 Amazon reviews and FINALLY made my purchase. I ordered my Schwinn 430 from Amazon on 3/1/10 and it was delivered on 3/8/10. I was delighted that it was delivered so fast and also happy about the free shipping. My machine was delivered by ABF Freight Co. I know that some reviewers have complained about the shipping company but I had no problems at all. The driver was wonderful. He took the box down a small hill to the back of my house, up two steps onto the deck and then into the house. He was great!!!!! It took Tom about 1-1/2 to 2 hours to put the machine together. He had just recently put together his Sole and so the parts were recognizable to him although I nearly passed out when I saw the photo of all the parts in the manual. Tom said that the manual was straight forward although there was an addendum for a particular washer. We didn't see that until I said "hey, what's this piece of paper saying?" All the pieces were accounted for and all the holes lined up perfectly. He used some of his own tools but used the supplied allen wrench where indicated. We didn't lube the parts as recommended by some reviewers. I've used it for 3 days now and there is not a squeak to be heard, except for the creaking of my knees. I'm 5'7" and about 150 lbs and the 18" stride is fine for me. I'm a former runner and in good shape (I thought). I have the elliptical on level 1 and after 20 minutes, I've worked up a good sweat. I agree that a backlight for the computer would have been nice but it's not a deal breaker for me. The 6 programs are more than enough. I think this machine is well made and feels very solid. There is no rocking or moving. I have it on a carpet and did not buy a mat. I love that it has a small footprint. The longer machines would not have fit into the space alloted for the elliptical. For the price, it can't be beat. I highly recommend it. I'll post again in a month to let you know if there is any squeaking.

Quiet, smooth and solid
Elliptical arrived in a timely manner. Husband put it together is a couple of hours over two evenings. It is extremely quiet and smooth in operation. I knew the control panel wasn't lighted before I bought it, and that is a problem at night, but one I can live with for the price. The programs are easy to figure out. Overall a good price for a solid piece of exercise equipment.

Customer Review :
Great Elliptical For the Price!!!!
We have owned this for 3 days and have used it 6 or 7 times. Personally I have never been on an elliptical but my review is 5 stars and I'm sure my wife would say the same.
The shipping took 10 business days from AZ to Iowa, nothing unexpected and definately can't complain with FREE shipping!
It took us about an 1 1/2 hrs to put together and ended up with 2 bolts leftover, who knows what they are used for but definately not for the machine. Directions were good except for 1 set of washers (black) being mislabled.
I'm 6' and my wife is 5'5" we both have no problems with the machine in terms of reach. In my opinion if your 5'3" or below you may want to find something else.
Overall it's great value for the $, very solid, much better looking than the Schwinn 430 that has so many reviews, most from 2007. Not exactly understanding why the console is plugged into the wall instead of batteries or why it's not backlit but really not a dealbreaker or a hassle. Don't hesitate to buy this over the 430 or any other elliptical in the same price range, you won't be disappointed!

Not Designed for Short Folks
I bought one of these, was quite pleased with the quality and have not encountered any "squeaking". I was also able to assemble the unit alone. The only problem I had was that one of the parts did not appear on the cardboard sheet holding the nuts, bolts and washers with the correct letter. Letter F refers to two phillips head screws. If you look in the manual on page 6 , F is shown as a washer, but appears much larger in the picture than it really is. That part (there are 4 of them) is a small black washer.
My reason for giving this unit three stars is that the proportions will challenge many shorter than average riders.
If you look at the picture of the man using the machine, he easily stands straight with his hands on the uprights. Judging from the height of the machine, he is also at least six feet tall, and has reasonably long arms. Standing on the machine in the same position I would barely reach his shoulder (I'm 5'3") and have to reach slightly UP to grab the uprights. His scale makes the machine look to be a good fit for everyone. It isn't. It is interesting that they don't show the woman rider from the side in the additional pictures and instead use an odd angle. She is rather tall but even with her height you can notice a slight forward lean.
At 5'3" and well proportioned for my size, I am forced way too far forward onto the uprights, so much so that my body has to twist with each step and reach out. My face ends up about 3 or 4 inches from the computer console (which is not particularly entertaining at that level of magnification!). Since I am leaning on the uprights and have a limited ability to pull them, this limits my ability to get a full upper body workout. It also prevents me from varying my body position enough to work different parts of my legs while using the uprights. I am forced to favor standing on the ball of my foot with body fully extending.
It is much more comfortable to use the center grips but then you don't get any upper body exercise at all. The upright handles need to have a greater range of curve to accommodate smaller riders and there is no way to adjust them. Depending on your build you might not have a problem, but I would try one of these out before buying. I noticed several other reviewers have mentioned this issue. If you aren't as concerned about the upper body then you can do just fine using the center grips, but I got rid of my treadmill because it didn't offer any upper body development.
Perhaps if enough people complain to Schwinn they will offer an alternate set of uprights. It would be very easy to change out the top portion of the upright and insert new ones that have more a of backward curve.
Update: Since I wrote this, several women friends have come over and tried out the machine. The tallest one was 5'7" and ALL complained about the forward lean without being told anything about my issues with it. Not one woman felt comfortable on the machine.

Terrific machine for the money
When my new job made it too difficult to get to the gym on a daily basis I decided to invest in my own equipment. This is an excellent machine--sturdy, quiet, dependable and challenging. I had read that the set-up could be difficult and was dreading it until I learned that a local Sears franchise would accept the delivery from Amazon, then deliver it to my house and set it up for $100!
I did get a little confused about how to access the custom programs that are preloaded on the machine but I muddled through and have been fine with them ever since. The direction manual is hopeless as has already been stated in other reviews, and the intervals are a little longer (40 seconds) than I am used to, but for the money, I give this product top marks.

Quiet and easy to use. Took a few hours to put together and even the low settings are pretty difficult but overall a great purchase!

Love It!!
I bought a Nordic Trak E7 in December and it was AWFUL!! It made a horrible banging noise and squeaked like no other! The calorie and distance counters were also WAY off. I got go frustrated that we took it back to Sears with no problems. After doing more research - I decided to go with the Schwinn 420 and LOVE IT!!! It is super smooth and quiet and gives me a great work out! I do with it had a water bottle holder and a place for my ipod but that is minor to me because of the great work out I get! Definately no complaints from me! TOTALLY worth the money!!

Customer Review :
Great workout machine, assembly a little annoying.
I bought this and I am satisfied with the product. Assembly was a little annoying. There are some screws where you have to hold your nose just right to get them to go in straight, especially when it comes to the axle bar. I recommend turning the machine upside down if you can't get the holes to line up properly, then move the legs slightly until they match up.

Help!
We bought this because my parents have one and it's an excellent workout. I've used it before, and was winded after 10-15 minutes.
My husband put the machine together without too much trouble. He's good at putting stuff together and followed the instructions to the letter. We noticed there wasn't any way to adjust the tension. The digital timer thing doesn't work at all. We're going to have to send that part back.
I watched the DVD and read the instruction booklet and got no help regarding the tension. I thought I'd try it, so I got on and noticed how little exercise I was getting. After half an hour according to my TV clock, I wasn't winded, didn't break a sweat and my heart rate was barely above resting. I tried the different methods they suggest, such as putting your toes up or bending your knees or going really fast. But it wasn't exercise.
It's not like I'm a pro athlete, either, I'm very badly out of shape and at least 40 pounds overweight. I can barely ride my bike around the block. I wanted a low impact exercise to get me started. This is not exercise.
This is nothing like the one my parents have, there has to be something wrong. There's nothing in the instructions, DVD or otherwise that really address how to put the machine together or to tell us if we've made a mistake. Can anyone help?

Gazelle is better than I thought!
I bought the gazelle back about two years ago based on good reviews. It came, I put it together without any problems (my drinkholder was broken, but I didn't bother to let the company know because it wasn't a big deal.) I tried it out a few times but I didn't feel like I was getting enough of a workout so within a short time it was demoted to the extra bedroom where it remained unused. I joined a gym and all was fine. Fast forward to eight months ago. My husband and I moved to another state and are presently living in a very rural area. No decent gyms nearby. I gained about 10 pounds over the spring/fall/winter and needless to say.... my clothes aren't fitting well. It's cold and icy and no decent walking trails here in the winter so my husband and I decided we wanted to by an elliptical machine. I had been watching craigslist and so forth, but all the units that came available had crappy reviews and out of desperation I pulled the gazelle back out. I've been at it for two weeks now everyday. At first it felt like drudgery, and still not an excellent aerobic workout, but after a week or so, surprise...I was looking forward to my daily gazelling. It is evident in my jeans and pants that I have lost inches off of my thighs and butt. I think I will order the workout DVD's now to make my time even more worthwhile. So, that being said, I guess I didn't give it enough of a chance when we first got it and I think it's a pretty effective little unit for the cost. We've changed our plans to purchase a larger elliptical machine.

Questions & Answers
Question : Elliptical Trainers.... ?
do elliptical trainers really work?have you ever had one?-how old were you?-did the elliptical trainer work well?-how much weight did you lose?-how long did it take?-what was the name of the elliptical trainer?( I'm 13 and i want to lose 15-20 pounds so i'm asking for an elliptical trainer for christmas )And does it matter if the trainer is cheaper? will i get the same results?
Answer:
I recommend eating smaller meals throughout the day, so you can sustain it. Start off doing 20 mins of cardio 3 times a week. A good machine would be the elliptical machine since it does not cause any injuries as to running on a treadmill. Doing cardio will boost your metabolism so the earlier in the day you do it, the better it is for you. It should be the first thing do after waking up in the morning. If you do it in the morning you will be burning fat calories after 7 hours of sleep. If you work out anytime after that, you will just be burning the calories you consumed earlier that day.Lift weights to tone your muscles on the days you don't do cardio. Lifting weights actually burns more calories throughout the day than cardio and it turns the fat you have into muscle. I recommend you do low weights with 15 to 20 repetitions.Try your best to eat foods high with protein, fruits and vegetables. As time goes by, slowly cut down your daily intake of carbohydrates and fat. Also increase physical activity. The more cardio you do the more results you will see. Keep this up (It's not easy) and you will see results eventually! Whatever you do, don't over do anything.I lost 30 lbs in 2 months.

Question : Do elliptical trainers really work for weight loss?
Do elliptical trainers really work for weight loss?
Answer:
Its burning calories and building muscle so that would be a yes.
|
Question : How do you feel about elliptical trainers?
Are they good or bad on your knees? I have heard they can cause knee problems? Anyone else hear this?
Answer:
Elliptical trainers allow you to burn a similar number of calories as jogging but without the risk of injury to the back, knees, hips, or ankles. Your feet never leave the pedals thus creating a low-impact and goes easy on the joints. In contrast to the treadmill your body has to absorb the impact force of walking or running. The elliptical trainers give you a great lower body workout. Some elliptical machines will also allow you to workout on your arms thus creating a great upper body workout. Great results in less time! I would recommend it. If you are planning on purchasing one and money isn't an option, I would strongly go with the rear drive as opposed to the front drive.
|
Question : Are elliptical trainers really that effective?
I burned 500 calories on one earlier today and even though it says I burned 500 calories, I don't know if it's actually right. They are so easy compared to jogging on treadmills that I don't if it's actually effective. If they are effective, then I'll definitely use them.
Answer:
yes .. and the 500 calories burned could be right - depends on how long you were on it and your intensity level. I agree, that if you jog / run on a treadmill it can seem more strenuous - but it tends to hurt my knees, so I prefer the elliptical

Question : Does anyone know about elliptical trainers?
I have been using one at the YMCA but I want one at home. I like the one at the Y but I bet it is really expensive. Does anyone know anything about the cheaper ones? Are they still good? I don't know one thing about these machines!I would like to spend $500 or less but I will go up to about $700 - $800 if there is a good reason why I should buy the more expensive product.I am looking at Dick's and they have a lot of them under $500, some are under $300...the price sounds good but is the machine good? Its looking like this is something I should budget for instead of something I can just go out and buy...I am looking at the links and I have decided that a more expensive machine is definitely the way to go.
Answer:
Ellipticals are one of those things where you really get what you pay for.All the consumer reviews I read before buying mine said that Precor is the best brand. It's not cheap, and the machines are large. But if you're looking to invest in a quality machine that will last and that you plan on using a lot, it might be your best bet.Try some consumer report websites. They have a lot of reviews for things like this and often list cost, size, and other factors that you might be interested in comparing.Try www.epinions.com!

Question : How effective are elliptical trainers for weight loss?
I really want to lose weight, and I have been exercising for about four years on a regular basis. I have gotten bored with step aerobics and walking, so my exercising has decreased to about 25-30 minutes per day. I bought an elliptical trainer. How effective are they for weight loss? How long should I exercise on it each day, and at what level (I am just starting).
Answer:
Elliptical trainers are great because they don't feel so difficult as treadmills. I do think, however, that the readouts for calories burned tend to be overly generous or high. It might tell you that you burned 450 calories in 40 minutes, but I don't think that anyone really burns that many!I would work out for 30-40 minutes (including cool down and warm up) - pick one of the preset programs that incorporate some "hills." Don't lean on the machine or rest your upper body while you work out - it's a common mistake. Instead, try to pump your arms freestyle or pump with the skiing handblebars if they come on your machine.A few years ago, I lost about 10 pounds in about 9 months (I wasn't dieting at all), and I only used the elliptical at my gym. If you work out 5 times a week, I think it's a very effective way to melt some fat and improve your cardio system!

Question : Elliptical trainers?
Ok, here's the deal. My fiance and I both need to lose weight, and want to in order to be healthier. We're doing ok on diet right now, but both of us need to exercise. Here's the problem: We live in a very, very small town. The nearest gym is 40 miles away, so it's not an option. We've read online that elliptical trainers give a great workout, and can help a lot with weight loss. Is this true? What type of elliptical trainer can we buy for home that's affordable? Does it HAVE to be an expensive, gym-quality trainer to work?
Answer:
Elliptical trainers are a great way to get some exercise, but you need to make sure that you vary your routine in it (upping your levels, doing intervals, etc.) in order to continue getting the benefits. I have an elliptical that I love, but I vary it with other exercises that don't require a gym because I like to spend more time working out rather than driving to a gym. It doesn't have to be a very expensive one like Precor's gym models, but I would avoid the very cheap ones too. There are a lot of cheap ellipticals out there that are crap and you can feel the difference right away when you get on it. I would recommend looking for a lower end commercial machine, and if you can get something used, that's even better. I got a Diamondback 1100 for $700 which was over $2000 new and can barely tell the difference between that and a gym machine (which I used daily for 2 years before buying my own). I've heard that Costco (if you have one in your area) has a few good ones under the $1000 mark which come with warranties and have gotten pretty good ratings. Make sure you research the reviews online for whatever brand you are looking at and plan to spend between $500 to $900 used or $700 to $1200 new to get something decent. A few other ways I vary my home fitness routines are by walking/running/biking when the weather is nice, and I use fit cards for building muscle. These are fun cards with exercises on them that require no equipment that you can use a variety of different ways to build muscle and do a bit of cardio. There are about 50 card with upper body, lower body, ab, and cardio exercises on them, and you can make a game with them doing every other one with your partner, picking a random number of them to do, or just running through the full deck. These can build muscle the same as the gym machines, but you can do them without driving 40 miles.

Question : Do Elliptical Trainers feel Like Walking?
If you were on one of them and you closed your eyes can you imagine yourself walking. Or does the motion feel different?
