Question : Treadmill will not work properly. The lights come on but buttons & belt will not work.Its Proform 540s (Sears)
The lights come on but nothing else will come on. Speed will not come on, belt will not rotate, fan will not come on.
Answer:
I have a proform too not a 540 but sometimes it does that. I check all the connections like the connections between the board and the belt and then unplug it and plug it back in and then it works.

Question : My Sears Free Spirit treadmill has started making a clunking sound.
It has started clunking as soon as it is started and at any speed. It seems to be coming from around the motor, but there is nothing in the troubleshooting section about this. I tightened the belt because it was slipping and the a couple of days later this clunking sound started. Any ideas
Answer:
Sounds like a bad front roller. Take the plastic hood off the motor area and the problem should become more obvious. The drive belt may be bad, heck you could have a problem with the motor even, But most likely because of the other symptom... it's probably the front roller. I mostly see spirits in canada, but they are made by various companies so I can't tell you where to get parts without more info.
